Dawn in Covilhã
Visit Portugal is the official gateway to the touristic information about Portugal.
Serra da Estrela is the very touristic destination in Portugal. It is the highest point in the mainland Portugal, 1993m, and luckily it is in the proximity of Covilhã.
Lisbon touristic information is nicely accumulated here.
Information about Porto, the equally important and attractive town of Portugal, the home for the Porto wine, can be accessed via this link
This conference continues the series of p-adics meetings and is aimed at gathering scientists working in p-adic mathematical physics which unites ultrametric, non-Archimedean analysis and its applications in theoretical physics from string theory to cosmology, biology, information theory and other areas of research. Currently the international journal "p-Adic Numbers, Ultrametric Analysis and Applications" is consolidating the results of research in the domain of p-adic mathematical physics.
This Seventh International Conference on p-Adic Mathematical Physics and its Applications (p-adics.2019) will be held in Covilhã, Portugal on September 30 - October 4, 2019. It is organized by the Center for Mathematics and Applications and the Physics Department of the University Beira Interior (UBI).
The number of participants is expected to be around 60. The Local Organizing Committee aims to provide financial support in the conference organization. A Book of Extended Abstracts will be published just before the beginning of the Conference and distributed during registration to participants. Proceedings containing selected papers based on the presented talks will be published in the international journal "p-Adic Numbers, Ultrametric Analysis and Applications" on the peer-reviewed basis.
p-adics.2019 conference registration and talks will be organized in the Department of Mathematics of the University Beira Interior (UBI) in Covilhã, Portugal. The red point on this map is the precise building location. The exact room location will be communicated later.
Portugal shares the Schengen agreement and EU visa regulations. Full up to date information on visa requirements can be found here. Participants are urged to check the visa requirements themselves and in case of need of an official invitation for visa purposes are kindly asked to register for the conference as soon as possible.
Participants are expected to arrive on September 29, Sunday and depart on October 5, Saturday. Generically we presume arrivals to Lisbon as the largest international airport in Portugal. Covilhã is situated relatively remotely and conference bus(es) are to be organized to facilitate reaching the conference venue on September 29 and coming back at the end of the conference on October 5. The exact schedule of bus(es) will be announced later upon gathering the arrival times information from participants.
Those reaching Covilhã on their own are suggested to use either trains or buses. In either case you should select Lisboa Oriente station in Lisbon as the origin and Covilhã as the destination. Lisboa Oriente is the train and bus station in Lisbon and can be reached from the airport by the Lisbon subway.
In case of coming through Porto you are suggested to use buses. You should select Porto as the origin and Covilhã as the destination. The Porto bus station can be reached from the airport by the Porto subway.
The regular conference fee is 180 Euros. It is reduced to 120 Euros for PhD students and to 60 Euros for accompanying persons. It covers: transportation Lisbon-Covilhã-Lisbon, conference materials, book of extended abstracts, social program, welcome party and the conference dinner. Payment will be to the bank account of the conference or at the conference site during registration.
There is limited financial support available mainly for participants from developing countries. Generically the priority will be given to young researches. The intention for such a support should be indicated during the online registration.
Any request for a financial support must be made no later than July 1, 2019!
IMPORTANT!
In the case the travel support is requested and is being provided by the Local Organizing Committee,
it is the Local Organizing Committee who should buy the trip tickets for those participants. It will be nearly impossible to reimburse tickets bought
independently.
The online application form, available via the link Registration in the left menu, should be filled in and submitted before August 1, 2019. Those who wish to request a financial support should apply no later than July 1, 2019.

Participants are expected to arrive on September 29, Sunday and depart on October 5, Saturday. Mainly to Lisbon. The conference buses will be organized to transport participants from Lisbon to Covilha on September 29, evening, departing no later than 20.00 from Lisbon airport and back on October 5, (early) morning.
We cannot specify the bus schedule more precisely as of now as we have too few information about arrivals and departures of participant. It is however crucial to know that the travel time by bus is about 3 hours and thus we must have started from the Lisbon airport to Covilha no later than 20.00.
If you reach Covilhã on your own, the relevant information is already in the first announcement.
The conference fee payment can be done either by the bank transfer or in cash upon arrival. We have no means to process bank cards but ATMs exist in the neighbor Physics Department building to withdraw cash as well as in many places throughout the town.
In case of the bank transfer you should include a message stating "p-adics 2019 YOUR FULL NAME" as it can be difficult to identify your payment otherwise. The full bank details can be found in this file.
We invite participants to read the accommodation page of this site where detailed information is now present.
Coffee breaks and lunches will be organized and are covered by the conference fees.
In case you are coming with your car or rent one (which is interesting if you like to go around and explore the fascinating natural landscapes!) a parking next to the Math Department is possible and is free of charge.
The program as of September 30, 2019, is available here
